Panajii: A key witness has arrived to testify in the Scarlette Keeling case in Goa. Michael Manyon, who claims he witnessed the crime on the night of February 17, says he's returned on the request of Goa Police.
“The details of my deposition will show that I saw Scarlette keeling come in to Lou's cafe around 3 am. She stayed for approximately two hours and when she left the cafe she was supposed to be accompanied by one man who I later saw drive off. Then from the light of his scooter I saw another man on top of her outside,” Manyon told CNN-IBN.
He also alleges that there were death threats made against him and concern for his own safety made him not want to depose initially.
“At first, I was scared that this might be put against me because I didn't trust the initial police investigation and also there were threats made against me, my life. Justice is important but my personal security is paramount to me,” he added.
Manyon said that when he first approached the British High Commission for help and support, he was told they could interfere in local judicial matters. However, the situation has slightly improved.
“Since then, they have shown some more support and faith in me. The media have helped and played their part,” Manyon says. “Now I'm back, I believe to do the right thing, to give my deposition and hopefully push this investigation on. As soon as I depose and the Goa Police lift the LOC on me, I would like to leave the country as soon as possible.”
