New Delhi: The CBI on Wednesday filed a chargesheet against 11 persons in the Khairlanji murder case. The chargesheet has been filed in Mohadi. The CBI says it has proof against 11 persons as of now.
The people have been chargesheeted under charges of murder, criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly with deadly weapons and outraging the modesty of women.
However, CBI says Surekha Bhotmange and Priyanka were not raped but it will continue its investigations against the state police and civil administration for omissions committed.
CBI will investigate the role of the rest 36 people who are under detention.
On September 29 four members of Bhaiyyalal Bhotmange's family was brutally killed in Khairlanji village, Maharashtra, which subsequently led to a widespread Dalit backlash sparking riots in various parts of the state.
Bhaiyyalal Bhotmange is the only surviving member of the Dalit family.
The Khairlanji killings not only set off a wave of public outrage in Vidarbha, but also unleashed a political storm over the lack of justice to the Bhotmange family.
