HYDERABAD: APSRTC vice-chairman and managing director A K Khan, newly appointed to the post, said Monday his priority tasks in the job are to crack down on illicit operations by private bus operators and improve the occupancy ratio in APSRTC buses.
The IPS officer said APSRTC would enlist the cooperation of the police in this effort, the focus of which would be on illegal private operators plying on high-income routes. Khan, who was the police commissioner of Hyderabad before taking up his new assignment, took charge as the new boss of APSRTC at Bus Bhavan here on Monday. Speaking to the media, Khan said being the former police commissioner, he understands the city and its transportation system well. “More buses have to be introduced in the city as 40 percent depends on public transport.”
