New Delhi Suspended BJP leader Madan Lal Khurana on Thursday resigned from the party, saying he could not stay in a "private limited company" which was infested with sex scandals and run by "AC room leaders".
Khurana said his resignation was a "painful decision" and the "saddest day" of his life, but he had to do it because the faith and principles with which he had joined the erstwhile Jan Sangh and later the BJP were today in a shambles.
Accusing BJP leader L K Advani and the 'coterie' surrounding him as the reasons for the ills plaguing the party, the former Delhi Chief Minister said he would soon expose those involved in sex scandals which had brought the party to its present decadent state.
Khurana alleged that the "BJP leadership is running the party like a private limited company with no regard whatsoever for mass leaders. I resigned because I have been feeling severely uncomfortable in such an environment."
The copies of the resignation letter have been sent to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, RSS leaders K S Sudarshan and Mohan Bhagawat and VHP leader Ashok Singhal, he said.
Khurana said he would make a choice between launching a "third front" in Delhi or joining Bharti's proposed party after a month.
