New Delhi: A strike by doctors at the biggest government hospital in the country, Safdarjang, has hit services badly.
The parents of a child who died at the hospital allege that the strike by doctors is responsible for his death. They claim that the paperwork was delayed and doctors could not attend to the child in time.
“I came here and there was this madam. She wouldn’t check my son's status saying that she is not from this hospital. Then when another madam came she said that he was dead. What can I do now?” says the victim’s father.
A meeting of resident doctors on Friday morning decided to continue the strike. The doctors are drafting a letter listing their demands – that will be placed before the hospital management.
The doctors are demanding better security and an increase in the number of beds for patients. They want the authorities to allow just one attendant per patient.
