Itanagar: The kidnapped son of former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Gegong Apang was released on Friday along with his music teacher.

Getam Apang and Narendra Rai were kidnapped from a music school in Itanagar on June 18, following which massive search operations were launched by both Arunachal Pradesh and Assam Police with the assistance of Army.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu and Home minister Jarbom Gamlin went to Tezpur in Assam, the headquarters of Army's Four corps on June 24 to seek their assistance.

At a public meeting at Gohpur on Thursday near the inter-state border, Gegong Apang made a fervent appeal to the abductors to release his son and Rai.

Family members of Getam had said they had not received any ransom call but were informed by a caller that he had been kidnapped, sources added.
