Kolkata: Locals vandalised state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Friday following the death of a teenage boy who had been admitted there.
Eight policemen have been injured while trying to bring the situation under control, police sources said.
At least 18 persons, including five women, have been detained and taken to Tallah police station in the northern part of the city, the sources said.

Sixteen-year-old Sontu Roy, a resident of nearby Dum Dum area, died while being taken for an emergency operation at around 4 am at the hospital.
Learning of the death, a mob gathered and indulged in vandalism, breaking computers and window panes and other materials in the offices, the police said.
Police reinforcements were sent to bring the situation under control, but they were brickbatted by the mob, leading to injury of eight policemen, of whom six have been released after first aid, while the other two were being treated at different hospitals.
Police dispersed the mob and rounded up 18 persons, the sources added.
