Kolkata: A major fire broke out at a clothes godown at Jagannath Ghat in Kolkata's Barabazar on Thursday morning. Twenty-four fire tenders were sent to douse the blaze, who brought it under control after a couple of hours.
According to a fire department officer one shop in the godown caught fire at around 8.30 AM and it soon spread to three other floors of the building. A part of the godown building collapsed making it difficult for fire fighters to douse the flames completely.
There are no report of death or injuries so far. Fire fighting activities were hampered in the area due to narrow roads. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, said an official.
