New Delhi: After Ahmedabad and Bangalore blasts, police in cities across India have been getting hoax calls and e-mails on bomb threats.
In Kolkata, police followed up on an e-mail threat and conducted intensive searches and detained Kaushik Basu, a cyber cafe owner from Salt Lake for questioning.
An e-mail threatened serial bomb blasts would take place at various parts of the city at 2200 hrs (IST) on Tuesday night.
Police said Sabitri Dandapat, a resident of Orissa, was also arrested on Wednesday morning from Kolkata as she looked after the cyber cafe in the absence of Basu.
Dandapat has been working in Basu's house for the past six years.
Basu was arrested on Tuesday night for interrogation after the hoax e-mail threatening that bombs would rip through important buildings and landmarks of the city was sent from the cyber cafe to a TV channel.
