Mumbai: After doing a couple of forgettable films like Dil Kabaddi and Right Ya Wrong, actress Konkona Sen Sharma is back with two new releases The President Is Coming and Luck by Chance.
While The President... is a small budget non-starrer film, Luck By Chance is a multi-starrer, big banner film.
And the actress who made her mark in the movies with art house films has no qualms admitting that it's popular cinema which keeps her public eye.
"Now I've only done niche movies. This is my thing. I did Aaja Nachle but it didn't do well. But I had the best time on Aaja Nachle and I think it's a great movie. But I'm more known for films like Page 3 and Omkara," said Konkona.
"I've done 22 films and people have seen may before. Page 3, Omkara, Life in a Metro and Mr. & Mrs. Iyer. These are four films people have seen. So, I'm very used to it. No one sees these movies, but we still keep making them hoping that they will,' she added.
The teasers for Luck By Chance look promising. This debut film by Zoya Akhtar sees Konkona playing a struggler in Bollywood.
"Both Farhan and I start off playing strugglers. He's a struggler and I'm someone who has been struggling for quite a while. I'm like B movie starlet and who's trying to get a big break. She's ambitious and it's about the film industry," said Konkona.
When asked about the Akhtar sibling, Konkona was all praises.
"With Zoya you can be totally confident because she has so much experience and Farhan, you would never have known that, it seems like he has been acting forever," she said.
"He's so good. I mean since he knows the technical aspects of film making and he has been behind the camera. He's at ease, he knows what's happening, how to adjust the look or whether it's taking the light, or the positing or helping the DOP. I know none of these things, so I'm quite a dud," she added.
Well, after four duds in a row, here's hoping that 2009 begins on a lucky note for this actress, even if it is by chance.
