Kottayam: Two kids who lived in juvenile home in Kottayam, Kerala have finally spoken out against the atrocities carried out by the attackers, who were none other than caretakers and senior boys at the home. After months of abuse, two children have come forward with tales of how caretakers and senior boys sexually abused them.
One of the kids said, "They beat us with large sticks. At night the wardens and senior boys would remove our clothes and abuse us. The wardens would make the senior boys beat us up. They also abused us. If we resisted they would threaten to file police cases against us."
It turns out, the home was in the public glare with similar allegations even a few months ago. It was assumed that instances of abuse stopped with the ousting of the the caretakers. But nothing seems to have changed.
For now though, Home Minister of Kerala Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has promised a thorough probe. Radhakrishnan said, "We will look into the matter." The state government has also now promised a probe of all other juvenile centres in the state.
