Mumbai: Music composer Ram Sampath has moved court asking for Rs 2 crore as damages from the team behind Krazzy 4 for copying his tune to compose four tracks from the film.
However, Sampath refused to comment on the issue saying the “matter is sub-judice.”
And it's not just the music. News is that even the film is a straight copy of the Hollywood film The Dream Team.
The posters of the two movies are similar and both the films are about four mentally unstable men and how they get out of a mental asylum to figure out that the outer world is as crazy as them.
But in his defense, director of Krazzy 4 Jaideep Sen said that the similarity in the films is “sheer coincidence.”
“In the past also it has happened. Sometimes in the West and sometimes even within the country we see films that are similar,” Sen added.
When we asked the cast about the similarities between the two films, the reaction was equally surprising.
“The Dream Team? I am not aware of it. May be they didn’t tell me,” said actor Irrfan Khan.
While actor Suresh Menon said, “I firmly believe that Dream Team was inspired by a Malyalam film. Story is somehow bordering around same lines but I feel it’s not a big deal. As long as Hindi audiences enjoy I don’t give a damn about inspired films.”
Well, if the copyright laws were strict in India, it surely would drive the makers of this film really crazy!
