New Delhi: Indian Foreign Minister SM Krishna met his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi in New York in a first highest-level meeting of the foreign ministers of the two nation after its prime ministers met at the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheik in July.
CNN-IBN’s Indira Kannan spoke to the foreign minister after his talks with Qureshi.
Indira Kannan: Are you satisfied that you have managed to keep the focus of these talks on terrorism alone?
SM Krishna: Of course I did. The entire time was spent in terms of discussing about terrors and how India has been the victim of terror, how Mumbai was attacked.
Indira Kannan: What kind of assurances did you get from Mr Qureshi about action against 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed?
SM Krishna: I didn’t ask for any assurance nor any assurance was given to me. We have said that on the basis of the dossier that we have provided to the government of Pakistan, they should conduct an investigation. I think that it is right that if a crime has been hatched on the soil of Pakistan, naturally the Pakistan government has to do the investigation. And India can do investigation on the attacks that took place in Mumbai.
