A march to the office of the District Police chief here organised by the KSU demanding the arrest of the culprits involved in the attack on the District Congress Committee office, ended in a scuffle with the police.
An irate group of KSU activists pelted stones at the police. The DCC office here had been attacked by a group of CPM workers during the protest march organised by the CPM against the arrest of the district secretary of the party, P Jayarajan in connection with the Shukkoor murder case.
As the protest march turned violent, a group of CPM workers had damaged the DCC office. A motorbike owned by the district secretary of the KSU, Nidheesh Chalad also was set afire.
The KSU workers alleged that the police had taken no measures to arrest the culprits involved in the attacks. The march organised by the KSU workers began from the Stadium corner, but was blocked by the police near the Police Club. Attempts made by the KSU workers to break the police barricade were foiled.
KSU leader Rigil Makutty inaugurated the march. District president, Sudheep James presided over the meeting held as part of the march.
