The Cabinet Committee on political affairs is to decide on whether President's rule in Karnataka should be revoked.
So will the BJP get its first taste of power in the south?
And while the BJP-JD(S) alliance has staked claim to form the government with 129 MLAs, indications are that they may be disappointed.
The Governor Rameshwar Thakur doesn’t seem convinced of the alliance. He sent a report to President Prathibha Patil late on Wednesday night.
Sources in Raj Bhavan say the Governor is not in favour of revoking president's rule in the state. And wants a decision to be taken only after careful study.
The report comes as a big blow for the BJP. On Wednesday, party leaders had met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking justice while BJP legislators held a demonstration in Bangalore.
The news about the report has also not gone too well with the BJP as they see Governor Thakur as a Congress loyalist, if he denies them this window of opportunity.
"We hope that good sense prevails otherwise the satyagrah will continue,” says BJP leader, Sushma Swaraj.
The JD(S) meanwhile is preferring to let the BJP take centrestage. But in this entire drama, they are the ones who have taken one calculated steps after another.
The latest one being a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) sent by party supremo Deve Gowda to BJP chief Rajnath Singh.
The JDS wants the BJP to protect minorities and schedule tribes, and says the alliance is valid only till the next assembly election.
