Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court on Monday set aside the election of BJP's Lok Sabha MP from Bellary, J Shanta. She is the sister of former Karnataka minister Sriramulu.
The court also ordered recounting of votes within four weeks.
A petition was filed in the court against Shanta, alleging that she used fake caste certificates and that there were counting irregularities.
Shanta is also said to be a close confidante of Janardhan Reddy and is one of the persons indicted in the illegal mining probe report filed by Justice Santosh Hegde last year.
