CNN-IBN

New Delhi: MDMK leader Vaiko and Tamil Nationalist Movement president Pazha Nedumaran are set to go on a one-day token fast at Idin-tha-Karai on Saturday. The fast is to demand the permanent closure of the controversial Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant.

Several hundred villagers earlier protested against the Kudankulam nuclear power plant and have fasted near the proposed Kudankulam nuclear plant site.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had on September 19 written to the Prime Minister on safety concerns about the nuclear plant.
