Kudankulam: Contract workers detained, released

Kudankulam: The villagers protesting against the Kudankulam nuclear power plant on Saturday detained 10 contract workers hired to work there. However, they were later released.

Around hundreds of villagers protested outside the plant alleging that construction work had been resumed at Kudankulam.

The villagers have been demanding the closure of the plant set up in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu.

Villagers in Tirunelveli and other neighbouring districts have also been participating in relay fast being held at Idinthakarai village near Kudankulam. It has been going on for than 50 days.
