Deoria: Slain DSP Zia-ul-Haq's wife has demanded an outside state trial and hearing by a fast track court into her husband's murder. In a letter addressed to the UP government, Parveen Azad has demanded that the probe should be done by a Delhi CBI team, which report directly to the court.
Meanwhile, a CBI team has setup a makeshift office in Kunda to investigate the police officer's murder, along with that of the village gram pradhan and his brother. It has also set up helpline number at Pratapgarh to elicit information from the public. The investigating agency has appealed to people to come forward with information without any fear of harassment.
Unable to get even a single witness, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has circulated a telephone number 05341-230006 and an email 'email@example.com', asking people to provide information about the murder of Haq and two others - village head Nanhe Yadav and his brother Suresh Yadav - on March 2. The agency has promised to keep the identity of the informant secret, if so desired.
Four FIRs have been filed in the case and the CBI has named former UP minister Raja Bhaiyya in the murder case. On Sunday morning, Pratapgarh DM denied permission to Raja Bhaiyya to participate in an oath taking ceremonies of two panchayat heads.
Meanwhile, Parveen refused to accept the job offered by the Uttar Pradesh government saying that she would not accept anything other than a DSP's post. Parveen who has been maintaining distance from the media, on Saturday told the visiting leader of Loktantrik Congress Harishanka Tewari that she would not accept any job less than DSP.
Vowing to continue her struggle, Parveen said that she was not fighting for herself but to ensure that no one dared to raise hand on those donning the khaki uniform of the police force. She also demanded that the policemen who deserted her husband in Kunda area of Pratapgarh on the fateful night should be tried for treason.
On Friday night, the wife of slain DSP Zia-Ul-Haq was appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Welfare by the state government. Brother of the slain officer was also appointed as constable. The appointment letters were also sent to the family by the district administration on Saturday. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had promised government jobs to two members of the police officers family when he visited Deoria to meet the bereaved family earlier this week.
