Lady luck upset, planets get close

New Delhi: A rare celestial spectacle will be witnessed after sunset on Sunday as Saturn and Mars get set to form what the astrologers term as 'conjunction'.

This celestial event usually happens once in 18 years but this time round it happened in karak rashi, according to the Indian lunar calendar.

Saturn and Mars, which are millions of kilometres apart, will look as if they are touching each other, because of a unique planetary alignment. The two planets will squeeze to a mere 0.6 degrees apart from each other.

Pale orange Mars will rise towards yellow Saturn and then continue upwards after they appear to pass each other. Mars will shine brighter than ever, peaking at midnight.

While it is going to be a treat for spectators, astrologers say this shani-mangal proximity could usher in a period of unrest and bring in some bad luck.

Since Mars and Saturn conjunct in Cancer, it could effect countries close to the sea. In India, places like Tamil Nadu, Kerala and the western coastal region can have problems.

According to astrology, this conjunction may lead to mass death, fluctuation of markets, conflicts and differences between the UPA partners. As such June 15-24 is being considered problematic.

Tune into CNN-IBN at 2000 hrs (IST) on Sunday to know what the Saturn and Mars conjunction means for you, astrologically.
