Mumbai: A day after six skeletons were found from a farmhouse in Igatpuri near Nashik, the Mumbai Police on Wednesday said that they would wait for the DNA test report before confirming whether the bodies were those of Laila Khan and her family.
Addressing mediapersons, Mumbai Police Jt CP (Crime) Himanshu Roy confirmed that they had been able to recover the bodies, covered with big stones and mud from a pit.
Roy said that Pervez Tak, arrested from Jammu in connection with the murder, led them to the place where the bodies were buried.
He further said, "The motive was destruction of evidence. An iron rod with blood stain was recovered and some jewellery was also found. Three skeletons had skull fractures, and other injuries were also found."
However, Roy refused to confirm the identity of the bodies saying, "We are still waiting for the DNA report. We will not reveal the identity till the report is out, but six persons were missing, including Laila Khan."
Roy also said that the murders were carried out by Tak along with watchman Shakir.
"Laila Khan drove her car along with her siblings before the murder… accused Pervez also received injuries while he killed Laila and her family members," Roy further said.
