Lakme Fashion Week Day 3 devotes to men

Mumbai: Day Three of Lakme Fashion Week saw a unique initiative from the organisers as they dedicated this day to menswear. Narendra Kumar, Lacoanet Hemant, Raghavendra Rathore and Arjun Khanna showcased their menswear line, though some took care to include the babe factor as well.

Next year will see a fashion week dedicated to men, a move that has all the designers giving it a thumbs up.

Fashion designer Arjun Khanna says, "I think it's a start to a serious deal. There is so much happening when it comes to menswear and this is only the beginning. I mean the FDCI has also announced a fashion week for men. It's a three-day fashion deal for men."

Designer Raghavendra Rathore adds, "I think to have menswear being showcased alongside womens wear is a very important move. I wish the FDCI had done it earlier when we were on the board. It just got pushed around."

And fashion designer Lacoanet Hemant says, "I think it's a great move. We need much more you know. I think the men are like peacocks of the country. It's a very serious issue. Women wear traditional clothes in India but men don't. They are quite comfortable in westerns, and I feel the men only wear traditional to please their elders."

And as for the models, they're happy to strut their stuff.

A model, Sahil says, "In the past, even when you have a main show, there are around 15 women and only three men filling in like an accessory. So it's good that it's being taken more seriously and the boys are being given a chance."

Adds Acquin, "I think it's great because men in this country need to dress better and I don't see them doing that now and people could get more as well."

As long as there's enough eye candy for the girls, no one will be complaining.
