London: It may be too early to talk about the Indian team at the next Olympic Games in 2012 but there is already a permanent Indian presence there.

Lakshmi Mittal is planning to build a 115-metre tall steel tower at the Games site in London. The tower is being touted as the tallest in Britain.

The tower will be a snaking, gigantic steel one and has been designed by London based artist of Indian origin, Anish Kapoor and funded by another famous Indian in London - steel baron Lakshmi Mittal.

It will be built at the Olympic site in East London and is being hailed as London's answer to the Eiffel tower.

"I am honoured. I have always been fascinated by the concept of towers," says Ashish Kapoor.

Once built, the 115-metre tall tower, called the Arcelor Mittal Orbit, will be the largest sculpture in Britain. It will cost £19.1 million. The construction will start in the next few months and the Orbit will be ready by December 2011.

The team behind the Olympics hopes the Orbit will become a tourist hotspot even after the Games.
