New Delhi: In the ongoing operation in Lal Masjid in Pakistan, at least 12 rangers and around 88 radicals have been killed until now.

Pakistan military says they continue to seize arms and ammunition from inside the mosque and reports say explosions can still be heard from inside the Masjid.

Meanwhile, US President Bush has reaffirmed his confidence in President Musharraf for his handling of the radicals at the Lal Masjid and termed him a strong ally in the war against extremists.

"I like him and I appreciate him. I am, of course, constantly working with him to make sure that democracy continues to advance in Pakistan," said Bush.

On Tuesday, Pakistan Army stormed the Masjid to wipe out radicals from the mosque.

During the operation the deputy cleric, Abdul Rashid Ghazi was also killed.

Protesting the death of Ghazi, Islamic seminary students in Mulatan have carried out huge protests. Around 134 people have surrendered which include 27 men and 22 children.

Radicals in Islamabad are now hailing Maulana Abdul Rashid as a martyr.

“It is very bad of the government to treat a cleric like this. The cleric was right; all he wanted to do was remove obscenity from here,” Mohammad Ashfaq.

"This is not a crisis for Pakistan alone, it is a crisis for the whole Islamic world. This is a question of religion, and therefore does not concern Pakistan alone, but the entire world,” said Sabir Khan.
