Lalu clarifies on Varun, calls Sushma 'demon'

New Delhi: Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad has landed himself into a political controversy over remarks he made on BJP leader Varun Gandhi.

Lalu Prasad said in Kishanganj in Bihar that had he been the country's home minister he would have crushed Varun Gandhi under a roller.

“If I was home minister, I would have run Varun Gandhi over using a road roller,” said Lalu.

The RJD president now faces arrest for threatening to kill Varun Gandhi. He is trying to make the most of the present controversy.

His explanation now is, “I had said that I would have politically bulldozed such people.”

Lalu’s craving for controversies does not end here. He has taken on another BJP firebrand, Sushma Swaraj.

He has called her Pootna, a legendary demoness who had been sent to kill an infant Lord Krishna.

His wife Rabri Devi has courted controversy over derogatory remarks against Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar few days ago in Chapra.

Matters against both these leaders are also being investigated by the Election Commission.

Meanwhile, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar appears unfazed and steers clear of fuelling the debate further. “I do not subscribe to these kind of hate speeches,” is all Nitish Kumar said.

Lalu Prasad has company on his remarks against Varun. The APCC president too faces EC’s ire over foul language against Varun Gandhi. During election campaigning at Khilla road in Nizamabad district, D Srinivas allegedly made some violent and provocative remarks on Varun, in an effort to appease the minority.
