Patna: The 8th grade students in Bihar will now have on book less to read.
The Janta Dal United has pulled out one of the chapters of a Hindi text book called 'Mitti ke Gaurav' focused on the achievements of Union Minister and RJD leader Laloo Prasad Yadav from a book.
If you ask students what have they learnt form the chapter, the prompt reply as it comes from a student is, “We have learnt that Lalu was a poor man and he has become a railway minister now. He was also a very good man.”
The young boy might need a little prompting but JD-U supporters have no doubts about Lalu’s credentials.
“There a many issues attached to his name that if a chapter has to be added it will be ‘Mitt ka kalank’ instead of ‘mitti ka gaurav’ owing to the acquisitions that have been directed towards him,” says a JD-U supporter.
But RJD supporters are not amused by such comments.
“They do not have the moral right to do this, Bishen Patel has himself stained his party’s face what will he say?” questions an RJD supporter.
The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), decided to withdraw the chapter due to controversies surrounding the Railway Minister, particularly in view of the fodder scam.
However this decision seems to have turned into yet another political war.
