New Delhi: Hoping to score some brownie points, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad has been slamming the state government and distributing money to the homeless after the deluge in Bihar.
And that's not all. The former chief minister has also offered prayers to River Kosi to curb its destruction across the state.
He met the flood victims and promised them assistance and said that he would make provisions for their needs. He distributed cash to the victims and assured all possible help from the Centre.
"I heard people scream, struck by a disaster. I along with Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh took an aerial view of the flood-affected areas. We took the matter to Parliament and have requested help for the calamity struck area," he said.
Bihar has been struck by one of the worst natural disasters in recent times. Flooded by waters from River Kosi, almost 30 lakh people have been rendered homeless and many have lost their lives.
Shortage of food and water and delay in distributing relief has only compounded the problems of the state.
