Mumbai: Lata Mangeshkar made a rare appearance on Friday evening for a song recording.
The nightingale of India whose voice has been a part of Bollywood for over six decades now, rendered a bhajan for Madhur Bhandarkar's upcoming film Jail titled Daata sun, maula sun. The song is composed by music director Shamir Tandon.
“Today’s recording was really nice. A very nice song was made and we three have come together after Page 3. I'm very happy,” says Lata Mangeshkar.
“So, it was absolutely like a family and it was a great moment for me when all this happened. I really wanted her to sing, so I asked her to record whenever she is free,” says Bhandarkar.
Though there was news that the song was inspired by Lata's popular bhajan from Do Aankhen Barah Haath’s Ae maalik tere bandein hum, the veteran singer was quick to deny it.
“Ae maalik tere bande hum was very different. It had different words, different tune and in the picture also it was very different. Everyone thinks this song is similar to Ae malik tere bande hum, but it is not the case. It's a different style,” clarified Lala Mangeshjar.
Jail, staring Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Mughda Godse is slated to release on October 2.
