Laxman was told he wasn't needed: Gilchrist

V V S Laxman was told that Deccan Chargers did not need him in the playing XI for the Indian Premier League's later half but he stayed on to contribute his experience and knowledge after being requested, skipper Adam Gilchrist has revealed.

Laxman "went through a lot emotionally" after the team's captaincy was taken away from him.
