New Delhi: In an emergency meeting on Wednesday, West Bengal's ruling Left Front recommended action against the erring police officers in the Rizwanur case.
The Calcutta High Court order for the CBI probe had given fresh ammunition to the Opposition parties to target the government.
"Whatever cooperation is required by the CBI from the state government will be provided. The Left Front has recommended appropriate action against the police officers who have been indicted by the court before giving the judgment of CBI probe, the court did not consult the state government," said Left Front Chairman Bimab Bose.
The court had ordered the probe while acting on a petition by Rizwan's family.
The government is awaiting CID reports in the case before it takes action against officers who are alleged to have intimidated Rizwan.
Rizwan, a 30-year-old graphics designer, was found dead under mysterious circumstances last month, days after his marriage to a Hindu girl.
