BELGAUM:  The Karnataka Nava Nirman Pade has performed special pooja and abhisheka at Ganapati temple in the city on Monday seeking the God to bless the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) with good sense.
The activists led by forum district president Rajiv Topannavar performed pooja for 15 minutes and later took out a rally to the Deputy Commissioner’s office where they submitted a memorandum urging the district administration to prevent the pro-Maharashtra organisation from conducting a convention at Yellur village on May 20.
The organisation, in a release stated that it has prayed Ganapati to bless the MES with good sense and also give courage to the state government to ban organisations which have been working against the interests of the state and its language.
The forum alleged that the MES, which has been sufferring from identity crisis, wants to keep the border dispute between Karnataka and Maharashtra alive and is conducting the convention to undermine the harmony between Kannadigas and Marathis.
It also criticised Karnataka government for not initiating action against organisations like MES which have been working against the interests of the state.
