New Delhi: The controversy surrounding the alleged leak of Army Chief General VK Singh's letter on lack of ammunition and war preparedness to the Prime Minister is set to rock Parliament on Monday. The BJP has given a notice to raise the matter in the Rajya Sabha during Question Hour.
Sources say the government may issue a clarification in Parliament on the issue. This after the person who leaked the letter on the lack of defence preparedness was reportedly identified.
Sources say the IB probe named a lady official from the Indian Economic Services who works in the Cabinet Secretariat. The government though has denied this, as it indirectly gives a clean chit to the Army Chief. But govt sources have told CNN-IBN that an investigation is being carried out to find out why she leaked the letter and at whose behest.
Earlier, the government denied reports that a senior officer in the Cabinet Secretariat was responsible for the leakage of Gen Singh's confidential letter to the Prime Minister on shortage of equipment and ammunition.
