New Delhi: A letter, threatening to kill Congress President Sonia Gandhi and President APJ Abdul Kalam was thrown in through the ticket window of a Meerut cinema at 1230 hrs IST on Monday.

The letter - which was written by one Karim Ansari, who claims to be a Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist - threatened not only the deaths of the two politicians but also the bombing of the Meerut Railway Station on May 24.

It also stated that several cinemas in Meerut would be targetted along with the Delhi Railway station, India Gate and the Indira Gandhi International Airport -- all on the same day.

The letter was addressed to the Apsara Cinema Manager Shamel Kumar Dey on an Inland envelope, which also bore a postal seal.

Dey told PTI that it was thrown in through the ticket window by an unidentified man who managed to get away before he could be nabbed.

The letter was handed over to District Magistrate Meerut, SP Meerut city and other departments concerned.

The letter was written in Hindi but its date could not be deciphered, he added.
