New Delhi: Political activity is on a high with the tabling of the MS Liberhan Committee report that investigated the demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992.

The report has indicts the entire Bharatiya Janata Party leadership along with former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. So how could this impact the saffron brigade. Divyamanu Chaudhry finds out.

"The report has also indicted my senior colleague Vajpayeeji," Advani had said in the Lok Sabha on Monday

Advani might be shocked but Vajpayee's name is alongside him in the Liberhan report and questions are now being asked on how exactly the BJP will handle the Liberhan thunderbolt.

For the Rath Yatri who is well into the twilight of his career, the images of the Ayodya movement bring back memories of a united Hindutva parivaar, unified by the objective of construction of a Ram Mandir.

Now an embarrassed BJP is for the moment focusing on the leakage than the contents of the report.

"The Home Minister (P Chidambaram) should take moral responsibility for the leakage. We want an investigation into the leak," demanded BJP President Rajnath Singh.

The BJP is in the midst of a huge internal crisis. At such a time the Liberhan Commission findings have the potential to add to its woes or to consolidate the Hindutva forces like never before.

However, it does provide an opportunity to Advani to redeem himself before he takes his final bow.

For the moment though some team spirit was at display

"There was no conspiracy. We did it for the construction of the Ram Temple," said Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Giriraj Kishore.

"Whatever happened that day in Ayodhya was the result of pent up frustration of lakhs of people," claimed Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh leader Ram Madhav.

What had made things difficult for the BJP is that the image of Vajpayee, too, has also taken a hit and the next generation is not shaping up to take over the reigns either.
