Mumbai: It's 70-feet-tall, made of plastic and coloured jute and will take hours to open it out for display.
But designer Shazneen Chiniwala's patience pays off and her magnum opus - the world's largest dress is finally unfurled at the Lakme India Fashion Week grabbing all the attention at Mumbai's Marine Drive.
“I thought it would be a good idea to create a record,” says Shazneen.
The Lakme India Fashion Week, incidentally, is going on just down the road. But Shazneen's outfit seems to be stealing the show.
The 26-year-old took two months to get the outfit ready and it's now paid off with US-based Ripley's Believe It or Not offering to buy the dress to display in their museum.
“I'm going to donate the money to charity, maybe set up a dustbin somewhere on Marine Drive,” says Shazneen.
When asked what’s on the agenda for her, the designer says, “I don't know. Buy maybe the world's largest purse.”<table width="248" border="0"> <tr> <td><div align="center"><img src="http://www.ibnlive.com/pix/sitepix/03_2007/world_largest_dress248.jpg" width="248" height="178" border="1"></div></td> </tr> <tr> <td class='Gtext10 lineheight12'> <div align="left">DRESSING MUMBAI: The dress grabbed all the attention at Mumbai's Marine Drive.</div></td> </tr> </table>
