Patna:Tragedy struck in Jharkhand with the coming of the monsoon as six children were killed and 25 others injured when lightning struck a school bus in the Namkum area of Ranchi on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at around 11 am when students from Greenland School were boarding their school bus to leave for home.
Greenland School is the largest school in the area with about 15,000 students.
The students of Class IV and Class V were boarding the bus when a lightning struck the bus, killing six of the children on the spot.
As many as 25 others were injured in the incident. They were rushed to a nearby hospital. The condition of three of the children is stated to be critical.
There were heavy showers in all parts of Bihar and Jharkhand as the monsoons arrived in the area on Wednesday and the very first showers brought this major tragedy struck the state of Jharkhand.
