Television channel Colours is scoring big with the show that scares the most. Khatron Ke Khiladi - level 2 is the most watched show on television this week as per reports.
CNN-IBN spoke to the show host Akshay Kumar to know why all big film stars are moving to small screen and what makes KKK a big hit on TV.
Here is an excerpt of the interview -
CNN-IBN: The TRPs for Khatron Ke Khiladi has been through the roof with more than 12 million viewers watched the first episode of the show's new season. Is it the Akshay Kumar's golden touch or the KKK touch?
Akshay Kumar: Did you say 12 million? I would say wow to that because that means a lot of TV we have in India now. I don't know if I will earn more money by being on TV or selling them. For the golden touch I would say my golden touch comes like a wind, comes and goes. All that I can say right now is that the wind seems to be blowing in my direction.
CNN-IBN: The wind is definitely blowing in your direction but there are some critics who are saying Khatron Ke Khiladi in its second season is simply repetitive but yet the viewers are tuning in. So, what do you think does it for the show to make it such a hit?
Akshay Kumar: We are not cheating on anyone. What is the show's name is exactly what is shown on the show, we have just added a big '2' in its name. I am the same host and the show has the same concept. It is going to be repetitive to some extend like many other shows where the basic concept is the same. But yes the difference is that the level 2 of this season is tougher and different which doesn't happen often in the television business.
CNN-IBN: That is fine that you are the same host of the show but many are wondering which is your real side. There is one side of you which shows you as a family man and the other side shows you with all the beautiful girls, which is the real Akshay Kumar?
Akshay Kumar: What is in the show is the real me. I am very strict about things. Whatever you see me doing on the show - the jokes etc - is all real me. There is nothing written for the show.
CNN-IBN: We have seen many stars right from Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Salman Khan to you coming to the small screen from the big screen. Are the lines between the big and small screen finally blurred and what are you enjoying more?
Akshay Kumar: Yes, the line is blurring. I was fond of TV right from the beginnning, not from the aspect of being a part of it but I use to enjoy watching it. I never thought I will ever be a part of TV shows but TV is a good medium as it has a wider reach and there is more fun. As I identify myself with this programme I think I am enjoying it more.
