Little Zizou, a tale set amidst Parsis

Mumbai: Sooni Taraporewala's Little Zizou is a story of Little Xerxes a huge fan of football star Zinedine Zidane and wants his football idol to make a trip to Mumbai, with a little help from his dead mother .

Little Zizou is a funny take on Parsis and with an ensemble cast of 34 actors, mostly Parsis, shooting the film must have been quite an experience.

"I went back to my childhood where my aunts spoke a certain way,” says actor Mhabano Mody Kotwal.

"It was a complete madhouse during the shoots," says actor Shorab Ardeshir.

"I learnt how to say chaalni challni which means chalo na(lets go) on the shoots," says actor, Imaad Shah.

And Sooni Taraporewala brought the story home by getting her own kids to act in the film. The young Xerxes around whom the film is centered, is played by Jahan Batlivala, Sooni's 13 year old football crazy son while her daughter 11 year old Iyanah plays the neighbour's daughter who cannot stand Xerxes. And yes - the siblings can’t stand each other in real life.

Little Zizou is not just about the eccentricities of Parsis, the film also has a message.

"It shows that everything has two sides to everything,” says actor Mahabanoo.

Little Zizou which won awards at the Mahindra Indo American Arts Council Film Festival in New York and the Asia Pacific festival of First films in Singapore, will hit theatres in India on the 13th of March.
