Jodhpur (Rajasthan): The wedding of the season is on right now. Elizabeth Hurley, Arun Nayyar, their family, friends and other party animals are closeted in the Umaid Bhavan palace hotel.
The ceremony was to begin at about 1800 hrs IST but got delayed. The whole wedding party the shifted to the Mehrangarh fort for the reception which was to begin at 2100 hrs IST.
The couple, united in a civil marriage in Britain's Sudeley Castle on March 3, walked around the sacred fire seven times at the Museum Courtyard amidst the chanting of Vedic hymns by five priests led by Lalit Trivedi.
"The wedding started right at 7.15 pm and the rituals were completed within an hour," said a source at the palace was quoted by news agency PTI as saying.
Nayar arrived at the hotel at the head of a symbolic marriage procession, wearing an off-white Jodhpuri suit and sitting on a black mare. More than 10 horses and a couple of decorated camels were part of the procession that started from the palace's Lancer Lawns.
All the 'baratis' wore traditional Rajasthani dresses with saffron turbans. Hurley wore an off-white 'lehanga-chuni' and gold ornaments.
Both Hurley and Nayar's outfits were designed by Rohit Bal.
On Thursday, it was the sangeet at the Nagaur Fort and there was the endless list of celebrities who attended the function including Bollywood actress Priety Zinta with boyfriend Ness Wadia.
