New Delhi: After the London 2012 Opening Ceremony doodle and Archery Google doodle, Google has now come up with its third doodle - the London 2012 Diving Google doodle.

The third London 2012 Google doodle is dedicated to diving. The London 2012 Diving doodle features a female diver in position for the plunge on the diving board over a pool that has the Google logo painted on the bottom.

The diving events at London 2012 Olympics are scheduled from July 29 to August 11. There are four men's and four women's events - 3m springboard, 10m platform, synchronised 3m springboard and synchronised 10m platform - in which 136 competitors are participating (68 men and 68 women). There are no Indian participants in the diving events at London 2012.

The diving events at London 2012 Olympics are scheduled from July 29 to August 11.

Diving first made its appearance at the third Olympics at St. Louis, USA. Women's diving was later introduced in 1912 and synchronised diving made its Olympics debut at Sydney 2000.

The London 2012 diving events will take place at Olympic Park – Aquatics Centre that has been designed by internationally acclaimed architect Zaha Hadid. The venue has a capacity of 17,500 and features a 50m competition pool, a 25m competition diving pool, a 50m warm-up pool and a 'dry' warm-up area for divers.

On Day One of London 2012 Google posted an archery doodle on its home page that showed a female archer taking aim at a bullseye, the target is strategically placed over the middle 'o' on the Google logo painted on the wall.

On Friday, Google put up its London 2012 Opening Ceremony doodle that showed five athletes on the track holding the letters of the Google logo. The Olympic disciplines depicted on the Google Olympics opening ceremony doodle were football, swimming/diving, running/jumping, javelin throw, fencing and basketball.

Google's daily Olympic doodle tradition began back in 2000 during the Sydney Olympics and continued through the 2002 Winter Olympics (Salt Lake City, USA), 2004 Athens Olympics, 2006 Torino Winter Olympics, 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

Sunday's Google doodle is the third diving doodle posted by Google during Olympic Games. The first was in Sydney 2000 and the other during Beijing 2008. Google didn't post a diving doodle during Athens 2004.
