London: London’s 52nd film festival kicked off on Wednesday night with the world premiere of Ron Howard’s political film Frost-Nixon, a film based on the interviews between America’s disgraced president and legendary broadcaster David Frost.
“It's a bit of fiction but still well done,” says journalist, Sir David Frost.
There are 5 Indian films this year but the one to watch out for is slumdog millionaire which has a strong Indian connection.
The Indian contingent of five include Shyam Benegals's Welcome to Sajjanpur, Shashank Ghosh's Quick Gun Murugan, Ketan Mehta's Rang Rasiya and Santosh sivan's Tahaan and then there is Nandita Das with her film Firaaq
“Its great to be here, both as director and actor,” says director Firaaq Nandita Das
“Great to have Indian films for a wide audience. People need to see smaller films and not just big bollywood ones,” says director Nandita Das.
But all eyes are on Danny Boyles latest film Slum Dog Millionaire- based in Mumbai. The film, which stars Anil Kapoor and Irffan Khan, will close the festival on the 30th of October.
