New Delhi: A couple who lost all their hope with the death of their son two years have a reason to smile once again.
An army’s officer’s wife Sudha Singh, 50 risked her life to give birth to twins as they had lost her fighter pilot son in an air crash two years ago. Their son, Sparsh was just 21 and it was his first sortie.
“My husband broke down. I was very attached to my son,” says Sudha.
After Sparsh's death, it was his memory that kept Sudha alive. He would appear in her dreams to comfort her.
But they needed something more than comfort. They wanted a physical reminder of their son.
So Sudha and her husband went for a fertility treatment. After two failed attempts in two years, they got a double bonus with Sudha giving birth to twins.
Says Sudha, “We wanted some resemblance that will bring the attachment so we went for this.”
Sudha wants to call her little boy Krishna and her baby girl Keshavi because in them she sees a reason to live and perhaps one day, smile.
And the twins are too little right now to understand anything. But the story they will tell later about their birth is a touching one.
