Love is making roads for your wife
Jharkhand: What successive governments couldn't do, a marriage has done.
One of the most eligible bachelors of Jharkhand, the state home minister, Sudesh Mahto is all set to tie the knot and his hometown Silli is getting ready for the mega event on June 18.
Dinbudhi, the village from where his wife-to-be comes is undergoing a complete makeover - roads, electricity, and drinking water all are in place now, for the first time in 58 years.
And none other than the minister himself is looking after the wedding preparations.
However, when asked about the infrastructure that the village was soon going to enjoy, Mahto said, "I would not like to comment on this as its my personal affair."
And the villagers - all home whom are proud of their high-profile son-in-law - are not complaining at all.
Some even candidly admit that had it not been for the marriage, they would have never got proper roads and electricity.
"Because the minster is getting married here, there has been a lot of development," says a villager.
However, the opposition parties in the state are watching closely. While some want the Income Tax department to keep an eye on the lavish function, others want the minister to adopt more villages like Dinbudhi, so that they get better facilities.
Says state Congress president Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu, "We request the minster to get married in more places. Then there will be development in more villages."
People from surrounding villages are cursing their luck for not being home to the bride-to-be as they have lost out on the development.
There are several villages in Jharkhand which are still waiting for these basic amenities. It seems in Jharkhand, it takes a minister's marriage to realise the dream of development.
