New Delhi: While the rest of the country is grappling with the price hike in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders, people in Delhi can breathe a lot easy.

LPG cylinders in Delhi will cost only Rs 10 rupees more, compared to the Rs 50 increase across the rest of the country after the Delhi government cut down on sales tax on LPG cylinders.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit also ruled out any increase in the fares of Metro and DTC buses saying they run on "electricity and CNG respectively".

Congress President Sonia Gandhi has already made an appeal to all the Chief Ministers to reduce sales tax on petroleum products.

Bihar and West Bengal have already reduced sales tax in an effort to reduce the impact of Wednesday's fuel price hike.

Kerala has also agreed in-principle to cut sales tax but is expected to announce the change next week, a government official said.

Maharashtra government has also indicated a likely cut.
