New Delhi: The UPA government has planned several populist measures in order to woo voters ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The first step towards it was made when the Centre slashed CNG prices by 30 per cent and piped cooking gas prices by 20 per cent.
CNN-IBN learnt that diesel prices are likely to be slashed before poll dates are announced. LPG cylinder rates will also be reduced.
In his vote on account speech, the Finance Minister P Chidambaram will talk about more allocation for students and women.
The government will also push the Street Vendors Bill. Earlier in the day, party Vice President Rahul Gandhi met street vendors in the national capital and said he'll empower them.
In the extended winter session of Parliament, the UPA government will be pushing for the six anti-corruption bills and Telangana Bill.
