CHENNAI: Chennai-based Torp Systems Pvt Ltd has commissioned a 40KWp rooftop solar PV system for L&T Shipbuilding Ltd (LTSB) a greenfield shipyard and port at Kattupalli near Ennore.
With this installation, L&T Shipbuilding Ltd will be able to draw a significant amount of green power for the administration building and therefore fulfil one of the key requirements for securing the platinum rating for a green building.
Torp Systems is a turnkey provider of solar systems and solar parks and has the capability to deliver solutions including design, fabrication and installation.
Ezhilvendhan, senior DGM, L&T Shipbuilding Ltd, said, “The energy situation in Tamil Nadu is grim and we need to take steps for development of alternate energy sources. The 40KWp rooftop solar system will generate more than 60,000 units per year and reduce carbon emissions by more than 1,000 tons in the entire lifecycle of the plant. Chennai leads the country in having the largest number of certified green buildings and once the administration building is certified it will add to the tally.”
