New Delhi: Secretary of Youth Affairs and Sports, Madhukar Gupta, will be the new Union Home Secretary, official sources said on Monday.
Gupta, a 1971-batch IAS officer of Uttarakhand cadre, will take over from V K Duggal who retires on March 31.
Gupta will join the ministry as Officer on Special Duty before taking charge from Duggal.
On February 17, 2004, Gupta, who was the then additional secretary in the Department of Mines, was appointed vice-chairman, Delhi Development Authority.
Gupta succeeded Anil Baijal, who was made the Union Home Secretary.
