New Delhi: Sources in the Maharashtra government on Monday said that the state will take credible action against Lavasa Corporation based on the Centre's orders. Speaking to CNN-IBN, the sources said that the state government is likely to file a case under the Environment Protection Act in Mumbai.

They added that the government has to obey the directives set by the high court hearing the case.

The Sources also said that the Centre's order to take 'credible action' against Lavasa will be followed by November 3.

The Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) denied clearance to Lavasa on October 18 saying credible action was not taken by the state government against the violations.

Lavasa Corporation, a subsidiary of Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), had initially challenged the November 25 notice issued by MoEF, staying construction, for not obtaining environmental clearances.
