New Delhi: There have been many clashes inside Myanmar over the past two years between the Buddhists and Rohingya Muslims that has left close to 10,000 dead. As a result of the clashes there has been a threat to Buddhist shrines not only in India but also around the world.
While the Mahabodhi temple was on top of the list, but officials say they aren't probing links to those groups directly but they are looking at a pattern to use their plight as a propaganda. Last year there were threats from al Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Toiba as well as Pakistan Taliban threatening Myanmar over the violence against Muslims there.
LeT founder Hafiz Saeed had also threatened India for its support to the Myanmar government. Indonesian jihadist leader Abu Bashar has also threatened the Myanmar President in the past month.
