Maharashtra drought: Rahul, Chavan meet PM, seek relief

New Delhi: Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday with Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan to seek a special relief package for the drought-hit state. Nearly 12 districts in the state have been hit by a severe drought.

The Prime Minister is expected to make an announcement soon in this regard.

Chavan had reportedly sought a relief package of over Rs 2,200 crore and 5 lakh tonnes of foodgrain at BPL rates for the state.
